A new feature, in the upcoming macOS update, could help extend MacBook battery life. This feature uses a combination of data, including your macbook’s battery temperature, processing loads and charging history, to estimate how long your battery will last. And it will use that information to determine the total amount of charge delivered to your MacBook, which could extend its battery life. This kind of battery monitoring and adaptive charging features are quite common these days in smartphones. This will be the first time that something like this is coming to laptop space.
Already, the current MacBook Pro lineup offers the best battery life among any brand laptop. To further improve this, Apple is bringing up this update in macOS Catalina 10.15.5, which is a welcome feature for MacBook owners who want to protect and potentially extend their macbook’s battery life span. This battery health management feature will be available for all MacBook Pro models since 2016 and MacBook Air models from 2018 to date. And developers can try out this feature starting today.
