Six-time Formula One World Championship winner, Lewis Hamilton, has won the race in the just concluded Hungarian Grand Prix 2020, held at Hungaroring in Budapest, Hungary.
“Believe it or not, I was still pushing out there. It was a different kind of challenge, but great pit stops, great strategy. I need to try and keep this up!” quoted Hamilton after winning the race. The Mercedes driver also won a bonus point for recording the fastest lap of the day at 1m 17.947s.
Red Bull Racing Honda driver Max Verstappen, who started at position 7 in the starting grid, came second and was voted Driver of the Day.
“Really bad race to be honest for me. I reacted to a light on my dash that went off, instead of the start light. So then I had to do the start again, lost many places and made the race very difficult for me.” quoted Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas who secured 3rd position after starting at position 2 in the grid.
After the Hungarian Grand Prix, Hamilton is leading the F1 World Championship race with 63 points, while his team Mercedes has gained a huge lead standing first with 121 points.
